Some records arrive quietly. Angine de Poitrine did not.
The Québec duo — released on the Spectacles Bonzaï imprint and funded by the Canada Council for the Arts, Musicaction, and SODEC Québec — have produced two of the most talked-about records in recent memory. Vol. I is already on its eighth pressing. Vol. II sold out on release before most people had a chance to blink. We've managed to secure fresh stock direct from the distributor, but if history is any guide, it won't last.
What Is It?
Angine de Poitrine — the name translates roughly as "chest pain" or "angina" in French — is the project of the frères Kek and Khn de Poitrine, produced and realised by Fabien Petersen. The music sits somewhere between kosmische, electronica, and something harder to name: hypnotic, textured, and deeply absorbing. The kind of record that rewards repeated listening and sounds different every time.
Vol. I
The debut LP — catalogue reference AP-01, pressed on the Spectacles Bonzaï label — has now reached its eighth pressing (OM PVIII N MMXXVI), a remarkable achievement for an independent release. The tracklist runs across six sides of music:
- A1. Sherpa (5:43)
- A2. Tohogd (4:04)
- A3. Tamebsz (7:56)
- B1. Ababa Hotel (6:25)
- B2. Sahardnieh (4:13)
- B3. L'Aberek (4:30)
Current pressings include a double-sided printed insert. Distributed by ATO Records.
Vol. II
The follow-up — AP-02, third pressing (OM PIII N MMXXVI) — arrived in June 2026 on 180g black vinyl, pressed by Optimal Media GmbH. It comes with a generic poly-lined white paper inner sleeve and a two-sided insert. The tracklist:
- A1. Fabienk (6:31)
- A2. Mata Zyklek (6:09)
- A3. Sarniezz (4:35)
- B1. Utzp (6:50)
- B2. Yor Zarad (6:29)
- B3. Angor (6:16)
Why Does It Keep Selling Out?
Partly the music — which is genuinely singular. Partly the pressing quality, which is excellent. And partly the word-of-mouth that builds around records that feel like a discovery rather than a product. Angine de Poitrine has that quality. People who find it tend to tell other people about it.
Both volumes are Mint condition, new stock from the distributor, shrink-wrapped. All titles are graded to the Goldmine standard.
We have stock now. We can't guarantee how long it will last.
